Description

TROCHOTRON.
Base B26A. Thermionic Decade Counting Tube which predates the gas-filled "dekatron" tubes.
Consisting of 30 electrodes the electron beam is steered with an external magnetic field. Counting speeds up to 1 MHz are attainable. Tubes had to be mounted at least 10 cm apart. This and the high cost of manufacture together with the advent of the dekatron made the use of the Trochotron not viable except for high speed counting. (RJ)
Operating principle of trochotron.
