Description |
This was developed by Western Electric in 1917 for The Signal Corps and used by the Navy under the CW-931 designation.. Rare earth coated filament. RF Output power 5W. Ua=300V. It was used in airplane and low power sustained-wave transmitters.
Originally produced with the bayonet locking pin turned at a 45 degree angle to other Western Electric tubes. Commonly referred to as the Signal Corps - Navy pin base. This was to prevent accidental use of low power tubes, causing burnout. You will find many tubes on the market today with the pins ground off, some being relocated to allow locking in to other sockets.
See Tyne's "Saga of the Vacuum Tube", page 287.
