Description |
Cunningham code for U.S. standard 864 / VT-24 / UX864
Small 4-pin UX base. Sturdy non-microphonic tube for aircraft communication. Airplane vibrations caused noise in the rceiver using normal tubes.
The first series of the CX864 tube made by GE in 1928 used the old "shouldered" small UX base. This was replaced by the 30 mm diameter UX base in June 1930. This reduced the weight and height of the tube by a few millimetres.
