Description |
Secondary Emission. 20mA/V.
Developed by Philips/Mullard for broad-band TV use in 1938 using an intermediate cathode for secondary emission to achieve high gain from a single tube. The B9G base and the all-glass construction with aluminium shield was developed for this tube to achieve short electrical paths and low capacitance.
It was quickly superseded by the EF50 - a standard pentode - of similar mechanical construction which has a lower noise figure.
