Description |
Bought from McCandless, the tube is mounted at a base block of insulating material with the matching Edison socket (either candelabra base or E14) and 5 terminals .
What makes this tube unique is that it is upright, which for other spherical audions left the filament in a position to sag and fold over when hot. This problem was avoided by the addition of a center support that held the filament up when it got hot, preventing it from deforming during use.
Number of tubes being bought from McCandless:
104 in 1911
156 in 1912
211 in 1913
Must not be confused with the completely different "Electron Audio".
