Description |
High vacuum counting and indicating valve/tube for operation at speeds up to 30,000 pulses per second, with some, in special circuits, capable of operation to 100,000 pulses per second.
Employs a unique principle; an electron beam is switched between 10 stable positions with the beam penetrating holes in the anode to illuminate a fluorescent inner coating. The corresponding digit is labelled on the outside of the tube.
It had a short time in commercial use because it was more expensive to manufacture than the cold-cathode "dekatron" series of tubes and required more power and slightly more complex circuitry especially for external control and data selection.
