Description

A series of Fleming valves (12 located) were made in the US for the Marconi Wireless Telephone Co. of America. These all had B22 bayonet bases and a "flying lead" for the anode. The anode of these tubes was triangular in most cases and the top was cut off. Two basic bulb styles were used: 1) S14 cone shaped and 2) T8 or T10 size, tubular. A number of these tubes have been located. The illustration on page 48 of Tyne also shows another American made Fleming valve with a small brass cap for the anode connection instead of the usual "flying lead" One of these tubes is pictured on page 14 of George Greenwood's book "A pictorial Album of Wireless and Radio 1905 - 1928" published in 1961. This book was later revised and reprinted by Morgan McMahon c. 1980's and the photo is in it. Samples of these tubes have been seen with a circular wooden socket.
