Description |
Ediswan is probably producing until 1919 when production went to Osram.
The anode power rating was 400W with voltage up to 12kV.
The valve comprised a number of components shown as a progessive assembly in the photograph from right to left:-
A* A drawn tungsten filament with a steatite button support.
B* The glass foot which carries the platinum wire connected to the anode.
C* The foot with two nickel strips which were pinched on to the filament.
D* The fine mesh grid of nickel wire with a nichrome frame.
E* The grid mounted on the filament foot tube - the steatite button centralises the filament.
F* The nickel anode with its mounting.
G* The plate connected up and mounted on the foot tube.
All components were heated to red heat by applying potentials to the grid and anode. Evacuation was by means of a Langmuir mercury vapour pump connected to a side tube. Manufactured in Hammersmith by M.O. Valve Company. Source Dowsett 1923.
