Description |
Announced as a Five-Electrode Tube in 1922 by J P Prangnell who designed it and had it manufactured. Two forms of the tube were made.
It has a filament, two grids and two anodes and appears to be effectively a double triode.
An experimental receiver circuit uses this tube for note amplification; it is a transformer coupled arrangement with positive feedback controlled by grid bias so that the output stage is on the point of oscillation. Reception of a signal causes the oscillations to start or cease - effectively acting as a switch.
