Descrizione

Split-anode CW magnetron with self-contained resonator, designed to operate at 3 cm. Few data available, likely for pulse operation. 3500 G magnetic field, 4.0 A at 2 kV input pulses.

This extremely rare magnetron recalls the experimental units proposed in 1936 before the I.R.E. by Kilgore, with resonating line mounted into the bulb to reduce losses. The PDF reprint of the article is attached.

This magnetron was just in early experimental phase at the end of the war. Experimental samples were made after the war at Institute 160, Fryazino, according to a declassified CIA report.

No known use, likely designed for some kind of guidance system. CW magnetrons or klystron will be commonly used from the fifties onwards in similar applications.
