Description |
This Robert Hermeyer device has the characteristics of a small mercury-in-glass thermostat with two detection points. It also has a heater in the mercury pool.
The exact purpose of this device is not yet known, but it has been recognized as being part of the Wandel & Goltermann PSM-5.
(It could be used as a true power detector by using it in a temperature controlled environment detecting the power required to maintain the mercury between the two set points, and/or as a precision thermostat.)
