Description |
This Kenotron was utilized to regulate the output voltage of the wind-driven generators used to furnish power to aircraft radio equipment.
Filament voltage range 7.5 to 10.75 V. Va max.= 250 V; Ia max.= 125 mA. Used in WW I aircraft. Special 3-prong Shaw brass-bakelite or brass-ceramic base. About 4500 were delivered to the Signal Corps.
The Term "Kenotron" was chosen for the pure electron-discharge in a two element-tube. The word Kenotron is derived from the Greek "kenos", meaning "empty space" (vacuum), and "tron", used by the Greek to denote an instrument. The TB1 has a unic UV like 3 pin base. The position of the locking key and the filament pins are different from the UV like 3 pin Navy base and the usual UV4 base.
