Description |
The VT 32 was supplied to the British Government and is electrically the same as the British B, but uses a tubular bulb shape and does not have a serial number. Earlier versions of the tube were spherical with an R stamped on the glass bulb. In these the element assembly was vertical. In the VT32 they were horizontal. The anode lead-in wire was part of the "press" but there is a notch in the glass, separating most of the actual lead-in from the rest of the lead-in wires. The letters VT stood for Valve Transmitting - so named and as used by the British military.
Note: The Tyne reference is wrong as the VT32 was equivalent tothe B tube, not R tube.
