Descrizione |
First 'micropup' VHF transmitting triode, developed in 1939 at GEC with the experimental code E1046. The anode was a copper tube, flared and taped at both ends, terminated by glass domes sealed by Housekeeper process. Thoriated-tungsten spiral-wound cathode was held by tungsten rods sealed to one of the domes. Grid was made of parallel molybdenum or tantalum wires welded between a ring and a base dish, in a structure which recalled a parrot cage. The base dish was welded to a tungsten rod sealed to the opposite dome.
- 9 kV peak anode voltage
- 100 W anode dissipation with forced-air cooling.
- Useful in pulsed operation to above 300MHz.
Used in British ASV MK2 airborne radar and in the US sets SCR-521 and ASE-1.
Several British, Canadian and US manufacturers and several product codes for this British military spec.
