Description |
This tube was made during the latter stages of World War One and is fitted with a Shaw base made by the Shaw Insulator Company. This concern was associated with Moorhead Laboratories. Surplus tubes were offered by the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company of America and was advertised as "The Marconi VT is the only vacuum tube or audion which may be sold to amateurs, laboratories, schools of Instruction or experimenters". The ad was in the July 1919 Wireless Age, page 35 and the tubes were offered for sale for US$ 7 each. These later tubes had the Marconi de Forest logos on the base (sometimes the Marconi logo on the glass). They were identical to the A and SE1444, Moorhead tubes electrically.
