Description |
The WL-787 tube was designed by Westinghouse as a classroom demonstration device in the 1930's for use in school/university laboratories.
The anode is phosphor coated so as to indicate where the electrons are striking it. The pattern varies as the electron stream is controlled by the widely-spaced grid.
Changing the grid voltage varies the width of stripes of glow between the grid wires. introducing a magnet bends the electron beam and stripes.
First made in 1936.
