Description |
Medium-power voltage-tunable CW magnetron (VTM). 1775 to 1925MHz, 3W minimum output power, 1.75MHz/V tuning sensitivity. Integral magnetic shield and output isolator. The VTM, Voltage Tuned Magnetron, covers a wide frequency range. Its operation is quite different from that of resonant cavity types, where bunching is easily accomplished due to the high Q of the cavities. To have electron bunching, the VTM must operate with an electron current lower than the space-charge limited one: this is accomplished using a cold cathode in addition to an injection system with a filamentary cathode. The operating principle is described in the application note given for the ZM-6222 type.
Theory of operation.
