There is a copy of a user manual for the 339 scope circulating on the internet which has a number of issues:

  • the model type 339 on the front cover was added with a computer (more modern font, crisp and clear)
  • the date of 1942 mentioned on the front page does not correspond with what we currently know from advertisements by Cossor
  • the text detailing the default CRT as being type 09J is in contradiction with the original manual that has been used to describe the present model page, which specifies a type 09D

A possible conclusion is that said document has been tampered with and is perhaps based on a draft version for this or a very similar oscilloscope.

Hello Mark.

Thank you for your notes which made me look at my original 96 page user manual.

This is dated December 1942 and refers to "the new Double Beam Oscilloscope.

It also lists the 09J for the double beam tube and the 26J for the sigle beam tube.

I have not seen the manual to which you refer, but the information seems to be correct!

Kind regards,

Roy

Thank you Roy,

Good that you can corroborate the details from this manual copy. We can leave this information here for future reference.

Kind regards,
Mark
