Hello,

Would anyone know where to find a 50Hz pulley, a motor with the 50Hz pulley or a parts list for this model?

Thank you,

Mike Waitz

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure which; a gentleman in China purchased the turntable, not realizing he needs to make changes to it. He can use a step-down transformer to fix the voltage, but the motor spindle will turn much too slowly.

Thoughts?

Thanks again,

Mike

Hi,

maybe a car DC/AC inverter is a solution. There are models with selectable voltage and/or frequency on the market.

Many thanks, Michael. I will research this and suggest it to the gentleman.

Hello Michael.

Ideally, you would need the model number of the Elac turntable to determine the correct 50 Hz pulley size, because, and if my memory serves me correctly, the rotational speed of the turntable is related to the driven turntable diameter to pulley diameter ratio as well as to the motor frequency (in your case initially 60 Hz).

So, I would agree that Mr. Mehnert’s suggestion of a small DC to AC converter may be one solution, even if not the ideal one. Just ensure that such a converter can supply an accurate and stable 60 Hz because the resulting speed of the turntable relies critically on its motor supply frequency if it is driven by a typical shaded pole induction motor. In addition, I would recommend a pure sine wave inverter to avoid any extra heat being induced into the motor from the cheaper modified square wave inverters on the market. Increased turntable rumble may also result from square wave harmonic content, but that’s only a hunch on my part.

Kind regards.

Hey Stan,

Thanks for the reply. This is for a Miracord 90 -- the original, not the anniversary model. I appreciate the info and I'll certainly pass it on. I don't know what his skill level is, but if it's not all that, it's still possible he can just find a donor 90 and swap parts.

Thanks again and best,

Mike
