crosley: 50/50A single unit model - most probably an unicorn

The combination of a Crosley Audion model 50 and a two stage audio amplifier 50A.

This model 50/50A was created in 2005 by the information of second hand literature, namely "Radio Collector's Guide 1921 - 1932" by Morgan E. Mc Mahon, page 52 (but term "boxes") and Slusser (I looked up vol. 7, page 65) with the text "50/50A, table, 1925, wood, low rectangular case, receiver/amplifier in one unit, lift top, BC, 3 tubes, battery."

I found the very nice, just uploaded pictures, uploaded by Alan Larsen - which show a typical "train" of two boxes - but no tubes mentioned. Tehrefore I tried to revise the page - and stumbled over those contradictionary facts: "one box" / "two boxes". Therefore I wrote to some members and received an answer from Alan Douglas which has also a logical conclusion which tells me: There is most probably only this "two boxed combination.

Hi,
    I'm not an expert on Crosley, but a local friend Dave Crocker was.  I used sets from his collection for photos in my book.  If he didn't have a "single box" 50-50A, then it didn't exist, because he devoted years of concentrated effort to building his collection of Crosleys.

   Just thinking about it, a "single box" for either the 50 or 51 wouldn't make any sense: Crosley would simply have sold model 52s which were cheaper to make. The amplifiers were only for buyers who started out with the simpler model and then wanted to upgrade to a "52" without discarding their existing sets.

   If I see a photo of an actual set, I'll believe it, but otherwise it's a unicorn.

Mc Mahon begins for Crosley this way on page 51: "Precision Equipment Co. (ACE) was controlled by Powel Crosley and was brought into Crosley Radio Corp. in 1924. AMRAD was brought inot the Crosley line by 1930.
