crosley: Crosley Chassis and Models
The reason for this post is two different pictured models (see for instance scale) on the same model page.
We have to decide which is the corresponding model and then to change some pictures. At the same time we know by the scale that the corresponding models have broadcast and one SW band (inscription 1.6 - 3.5 mc). The schematic from April 1936 for those models reflects the two bands and shows the tubes 6D6, 6D6, 76, 6B5 and 80 - but also that the model is rather from 1935/36 (or even before). Mentioned are the models 516-BF (Fiver) variant 1 and variant 2, a model 5516-AH old (model 529), 5516-MG (537 Console) and 6516-BB (model 525, we call it Galleon - but shows tubes 6A7, 6D6, 75, 41 and 80 - with a shared plan for 525 and 505 (Console) from October 1935). It seems that there is also an old and a new version (at least of some) and it is unclear if one of the terms refers to the chassis or not and if not if there is a common chassis number.
The schematic finder tells us that there is also a Crosley 529 for Canada (RCC 1, 6) with 12A8, 12SK7, 12SQ7, 50L6 and 35Z5 but reflects "our 529" only for the later (1940) model. For 525 it is Rider's 6 / 13 for the older version (above mentioned). Model 516, 5516, 6516 are found at Rider's 7/58 with the same documentation. There is a model 537 at Rider's 8/15 (1937).
Careful, there is also:
The Crosley Rider's schematic Vol. 11, page 11 from September 1939 shares the models 519 and 529 with the tubes 12A8 12SK7 12SQ7 50L6 35Z5.
To tackle the problem of correct information we have to study the published books with pictures and some information in Internet (which is too often wrong). See also my notes from May 2009 on the Galleon 525 Ch = 6515-BB.
