Is there a difference between the Telefunken Andante 1352 and the Andante 5353W? The schematics look identical. Is it possible one is for the local German market and the other is for international market?

Regards,

Guy S.

Hello Guy.

The models Andante 1352 and Andante 5353W differ, among other things, in their wave ranges.

The Andante 1352 has longwave, medium wave, shortwave and VHF.

The Andante 5353W has Medium wave, 2 x short wave plus VHF.

Europe and North Africa market models can have long wave.
Models for the Americas, Tropics etc don't have longwave and usually that's replaced by a Shortwave band. The Andante 5353W is listed as an export model, has 115V and 230V and the LW is replaced by a 2nd SW band.

This is also common on UK export models, except to Ireland or the rest of Europe and North Africa.
