Since I have posted this particular radio, and based on the stations identified I feel that in fact this model was produced in 1935, not later, also as i was not to sure at first what or how to add data, the valves are in fact V4 U50 full wave rectifier, V1/V2 W63 variable-mu screen pentodes and V3 KT63 Tetrode power output valve.

Thank you to the two other members who have advised me on the date as in fact 1937, not 1935

I thought it's probably 1937/1938 and a "budget" model. Probably the real model number starts BC38?? where "??" is two more digits.

GEC seems to have started using W63 KT63 U50 in 1937 approx in BC38?? models, i.e. All-Wave super six  BC3860.

So making a wild "guess" that it's really a BC3840 I search and find it on www classicwireless co uk /gecg htm  (take out spaces and put dots).

A UK service information seller offers the actual Manufacturer's service data (copy) for about £2. There is also a BC3840L, but I don't know what the difference is. Does your wavechange have a "Droitwich Rejection" LW postion? Is there a 200kHz (1500m) Coil & capacitor trap on the aerial circuit?

The GEC manufacturers service manual dated 1937 names this model as the A38 BC3840 (or BC3840L with a different mains transformer). The model page is now correct apart from the year of manufacture (1937) and the height measurement, 316 ins ?
