general-el: Dial lamp

Hello dear collector's,

I need to know the reference of the dial lamp of this radio model (General Electric, Model 202), type, number, etc... can anyone help me?

And where I can find it for buy?

It is a Type 51 ,(bayonet, 7.5 Volt, 220 mA).

Thank you Kobi, but the socket here is not bayonet, is screw, and seems been for a "big" lamp (a little big than the usual miniature lamps), not miniature!!

So it must be a modification, since the diagram says 51.

Could it be a so called "candelabra base" E12? (not popular here).

I not know dear Kobi, but seems all connections, support base socket, etc, original... anyway in Rider's we only can see the model 200, 203 and 205, not the 202 model!

I have one of this  and not screw in the socket (anyway the socket seems to be the same size), but the type of screw socket is not the same!

Hello Kobi,

I mesured the volts from the wires came to the lamp socket and is 110 volts!! Not 6.3 or 7.5 volts... I burn 3 miniature lamps becouse this!

It is possible?

Dear Vitor and Kobi,

According to the Rider's tech data for the GE models 201, and 202 - they identify the items peculiar to the models 201 and 202. . . . .all other items are as depicted on the Rider's schematics data sets for the 200. 203, and the 205.

On page 3 of the Riders volumes, the tech data sheets for GE models 200. 203, and 205  is shown the PI (pilot indicator) lamp in the heater string. The PI depicts rating of 105-125 Volts with AC-DC.

On page 4, the list of parts identifies the lamp as:
GE type C7, 115 volts, 10 watts, clear candelabra, screw base

NOTE: On page 7, the parts are listed again for the models 200, 203, and 205 and the same data is listed

It is most regrettable that Vitor "sacrificed" 3 good lamps to act as a "flashbulb", to find out the lamp consumes so much energy - almost as though GE wished to offer a combination radio/night light.

I am sorry, it was my mistake to read the wrong section (82-1).
You are right: The correct listing in Rider's 15-56 G.E. quotes clearly  Type C7, 115 Volt, 10Watt, clear, candelabra screw base.

 I had a closer look to the schematic. The lamp in question is not necessary for the radio. It is  just connected to the switched mains input in parallel to the radio circuitry (consequently the power is not important, provided it doesn't get too hot). If You need a 120 Volt, 5 Watt ,12 mm candelabra bulb, I could mail two. This size (candelabra) is hard to find here. I dont know how it is in Portugal. Anyway, let me know.

Thank you very much for your nice's explanations and corrections about this matter... now I got try to find and try to buy a C7 Type lamp... no problem... anyway I have learned another lesson and it is good for me.

I make a search for the C7 bulb in http://www.donsbulbs.com/ and the minimum purchase is of $40 USD minimum plus shipping!! Jesus Christ, Kobi please tell me for send you by Paypal for 2 lamps, please.

There is a merchant who sells some of the Singer sewing machine lamps in C7 shape for $1.63 each (they are 120V 10watt) and the shipping is free.  If they will not ship free to Europe, please advise me and I will buy 10 and send you a few to ensure the authenticity  of your radio.

Tomorrow morning I will make phone call to the merchant to inquire about details.

There is a Hancock fabrics merchant near my home, and they sell the "frosted glass", Singer type 2120, C7 lamp in the 120Volt 10Watt rating, and the lamps are listed as "long life".  Price is the lowest I have seen at $1.59 each - please advise.
