I see in the GE model list they made a T 12 and also a T 12 D. I was surprised to see that the 4 tubes are completely different between them. I have a T 12 C, it looks identical to the T 12 pictures. Would it be worth posting the pictures and this model variation? I wonder if the T 12  C tubes are different as well. My dad was restoring it at one time but has replaced the original tubes with probably what he had on hand at the time. If I restore this should I replace the tubes he installed with the originals?  Also the collector prices listed are they for working/ restored radios?

Dear Doug
It seems that General Electric made these models (also) for RCA named Radiola R5 Radiolette. They were one of the founders of RCA and that is a normal case. There must be a model for AC and a model for DC but we don't know yet which is the C and which is the D. We even don't know yet if T12 is only the general name for both of them - or is an other model.

I copied the model T12 and named the copy T-12-C. Can you please load up some photos - if possible in full size 933 x 700 pixels - including the name plate? Has it 4 tubes? Has it a mains transformer? Can you also show the wiring underneath the chassis? Can you also fill in the measurements to the model by using the link "Succest change" on the model page?

This copy has not been filled in yet properly because we miss some data. Perhaps your answers and pictures can help to solve the problem.

Ernst,

I've uploaded the pictures of my RCA T-12-C. I did not include a picture of the tubes or chassis underneath because mine is not original and would only confuse everyone. The T-12-C has a mains transformer,is AC only, the chassis looks like the T-12. It has 4 tubes. The numbers on the chassis are UY224 RCA247 UX280 UY224 which is a 24, 47, 80, 24. My father has retrofit 6SK7 in place of the two 24, 6SQ7 in place of the 47, and 6K6 in place of the 80. The radio is not working and his work was incomplete before he went blind and I really have no idea on how to complete it with the tubes he has installed. If I am to properly restore it should I replace these tubes and sockets with the originals? The mains transformer also is not the correct original.

GE T-12-C Manufactured for GE by RCA Victor

Ernst,

I just noticed on the bottom of the model sticker that the GE T-12-C was actually manufactured for GE by the RCA Victor Company, not the other way around as was believed. I uploaded a close up of the sticker. Perhaps the RCA Radiola R5 is the correct schematic??
