grundig: 2030W/3D/GB on/off switch repair

The first picture shows a strip of white paper at the broken end of the actuating arm.

 

The replacement switch was fitted to the chassis using cable ties and a small section of connection strip.

 

In operation the switch pivots slightly as the piano key is depressed.  The knob on the switch was removed and a slice of cork placed within the underside of the key. The tags at the bottom of the switch were cut very short to keep them out of the way of the chassis.  The switch is cradled in a piece of terminal strip using small cable ties.

In use the piano key is depressed to operate the on/off switch before returning to its original position.   The piano key does not remain depressed with the set on.  Whilst not perfect this does retain on/off function within the set.  This radio has been in daily use for over two years since the repair was carried out.
