grundig: Grundig 5010 dial removal

I'm trying to remove the dial glass from my Grundig 5010. I have removed the spring clips from the end but the glass seems to be stuck to the chassis with double sided tape. It is really stuck on and I'm concerned I may break the glass if I put too much pressure on it.

is there a trick to make the dial removal easier?

There are rubber strips between the scale and the chassis. Over the years, the rubber rots into a sticky mass so that the scale sticks. You have to be very careful to remove the scale without force or tools.
