Hi !

I've bought one of these coders.

It does not function (powers up but no correct signal).

with it came a paper from "Grundig Technishe Informationen"  Sepember 1965 written by Mr H. WEGLEHNER and titlet "Grundig Service Stereo Coder SC-1". I've 6 A4 pages plus 2 for the schematics starting at page 935.

Questions :

1) Do you think they're valuable enough to be uploaded to the site ?

2) If the answer to the above quesiton is yes, and as they contain pictures of actual oscillograms, they need to be scanned at a higher resolutions than the schematics. How could i do this ?

3) I would be greatly pleased to get the same version of this paper in a language I understood : English or better French. So if someone has another source I would be gratefull to get a copy ! It would greatly help fixing it by knowing what buttons do and what to expect from the unit.

Regards

Dear Georges
Sorry that you did not get an earlier answer.
Thank you for the details about your papers for this model. I included it into the model (notes) and changed the date to 1965 (instead of 1966 ?). It may have arrived on the market a year before.

Yes, I kindly advise you to upload those papers, beginning with the schematics and giving them the right suffixes as indicated in the blue info button when selecting "schematic" for upload.

Normally 300 DPI is sufficient. I see that you have already uploaded 17 schematics, thank you. So you know how.
If the oscillograms are small then you can go up to more DPI's without any problems. In case of difficulties Heribert Jung will probably be able to help you. He is fluent in English.

Please tell here, after having uploaded the documentation, what your set is producing. I hope that then you will get good answers or further questions to be able to solve the problem. Without plans this would probably be too complicated and therefore there was no answer yet.

It will be hard to find such paperwork in French or English unless it was also an export article - and then it can only be found in those countries. Maybe there was something common with Philips. I have the timetable not in my mind from when on they worked together and on which fields first, but I think it was much later.

Hello !

I finally got time to scan the documentation.

I processed it as a PDF file (quite huge, about 37 Mb in order to be as legible as it can be).

As it is big, I'm reluctant to attach it to the forum. So I've set up an HTTP link for our German speakers to get it, read it and state if usefull or not.

http://dl.free.fr/uG7zuLUJK

I've included all the information I get. This include the SC1 schematic and the Decoder - schematic, and an article about the transistor and the end of an article about motors. Obviously, these can be spared ....

If it is usefull, please let me know what part is good for publication, and please if you have time and will provide a translation, either in French or English. (if French I'll translate it in English).

When I know what to do with this document, I'll process it for uploading.

If not usefull for the Community, please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your help and advice !

P.S. : This link will stay alive for one month after the last download. So if a lot of people read it, it will last forever ;-)

Hello Georges,

I have the Grundig TI with the description of this device.  I loaded my scans today to the model.  The text is a users guide for this Stereo Coder. There is no need to have this description, if the radio you will service, has an alignment guide for its stereo decoder. I have this Coder also. Here is a short description of the keys:

left: output amplitude

middel: frequency fine tuning around 98 MHz

right from top:

Output: audiofrequency or FM

Full signal (sum and difference) or only difference

right or left channel

Pilot sound on or off

audio frequency 2500 Hz on or off

audio frequency 300 Hz on or off.

Power on

left connection is for scope sync,

middle connection is signal output.

Connect this coder to a well running stereo-radio antenna input and test all the keys. You will here what each key does.

Heribert

Hello !

Searching the Web, I've found an article pertaining to the construction of such coder.

It is easy to make using no coils....

Unfortunatelly, it is in French, but the schematics are universal and with the oscillograms provided, quite self explanatory.

Have a look at :
