radiomobil: HN309 replacement that works
Not being able to find a HN309 I have looked at trying to find a equiverlant as there are none listed I have searched different types of valves and have found a valve which works very well in place of the HN309.
This is the TV valve PCL83 and looking at all the characteristics it has the same heater of 12v and the same current 0.3Ah with the same pin connections and a better ra 53k having a Pout of 2.2w. I know there will be some out there that could find fault but I have now a good working radiomobile 20X to go into my 1946 Wolseley 10HP.

According to the "Commercial Valve Index and Cross Reference to British Service Types" from 1968 it should be a PCL82. - which is questionable because of its Vf of 16V but may work too.

If you look at the pinout of the PCL82 you will find that none match the PCL83 or HN309 with a heater voltage of 16v and a low ra of 16k it could not be used without a lot of base rewireing.
