I am new to working on radios and was wondering what the function of this component is.  It is on a Korting 1091 and is located behind the ferrite antenna knob.  The connection is a sprung type but I do not know what it does as it seems "on" all the time.  Rotating the antenna knob does not touch the piece at all and it does not appear that anything is broken.  The radio functions fine but I am curious what this part does.  Thanks for any information.

Dear Mark,

This is defiantly the on-off-switch for the ferrite antenna. You find it in the middle left center of the schematic. It's on i.e. connected to ground, when you rotate the ferrite antenna. When you turn the ferrite antenna off, the cam will lift the contact open. If you don't see this happen, then the string or spring could have enlarged over the years. Does this help?

Regards

Rolf

Thanks, Rolf.  That makes complete sense.  Right now it doesn't engage to turn if off, probably due to the string tension.  Learn something every day with these radios!
