pye ireland ltd.
hello carlos, from my knowledge as a resident in those days of ballinteer rd ,dundrum , as children we used to look over the garden wall and see the thousands of radios coming off the production line , we never knew it as the iec ,[the pye factory] but they did export models all over the world , and could very well have used that title , for export purposes , pity you dident post a picture of the cabinet and a rear view showing the line up of the tubes ,
phillips bought out the pye factories, both here and in the uk , and closed the factory in dundrum in about 1960 , the family who origionally started up the factory here in ireland were known as the digbys, and this set might be one of theirs , ill enquire at the next meeting of the ivrss , about this trade name , as some of the older members worked in the factory and may have more knowledge than myself , best regards maitiu standun.

Tube line up
Thanks very much for the reply.
The rear wall don't have the tube line up, but the tubes are:
UCH81; UBF89; UCL83.
I think that radio comes from Great Britain, because he have a "licence plate" of Great Britain.
Best regards

irish electrical co
hello carlos ,this is very very interesting indeed , oviously this set was made here in dundrum for export to the uk , and that plate would have to be fitted before it could be sold in britain, the gaelige name for ireland is eire , deanta san eireann, means made in ireland , i will research this set in the coming weeks for you . i notice the logo of the irish harp on the grill , even though we have the euro coins here now we have retained an identical harp as that one on the reverse side of our coins ,
i notice the radio is an ac/dc set with a live chasis , so dont touch any part of it when live , i presume you must understand that , , ill try and store your pictures as ill need to show it to the irish members of the society , regards maitiu standun ,

administrators
hello wolfgang, i must respectfully decline your request at this time , for fear of being accused of spreading 'fairy stories' , copious amounts of research need to be carried out in advance of offering detail to the data base , remember this co is probably 50 years gone out of existance , i am presently researching this set and from my own experience as a resident of this village [dundrum] , the only radio factory ever to exist here was pye [ireland] ltd.i intend to bring carlos's pictures to the monthly meeting of the irish vintage radio and sound society, as there are senior members there who worked in pye , and would know about this set.
i might add that dundrum is no longer a village but it has been subsummed into the suburbs of dublin city , and has been built up into a high density populated area , fondest regards maitiu.

Irish Electrical Co. Ltd
Mr. Maitiu do the research for this set and tell me this:
hello carlos, i have been to the monthly meeting of the ivrss , and spoken to the older members , they tell me that philips bought out the pye factory and tried to keep the workers and the factory running , but they couldent use the name pye as the pye co in the uk were still manufacturing pye radios , so they used this i.e.c title and exported them into the uk ....
I think the Philips "created" one company, with the registration of a trade mark, and the name was IEC.
( in the rearwall the title is of one company:Irish Electrical Co. Ltd. )
My opinion is created a new manufacturer, and in the details tell the research made by Mr Maitiu.
I should like to know your opinion, to do the right thing.
Best regards
