MY METHOD OF REPAIRING

First I have drilled a thin section of the broken area to fix pins in order to improve strength to the fiberglass’s filling up. Afterwards, I have cleaned deeply whole the broken area with cellulose diluents in order to clean up any grass and dirtiness.

Fig.3

Two pins have to be bended according to the cabinet curvature.

Fig.4

I’ve cut a cardboard piece, to cover the broken part. (Preferably a gloss faced one). Afterwards I have marked the area to be glued. Then I have spread the contact glue. This is important to keep the area cleaned to be filled with fiberglass.

Fig.5

After the cardboard was well fixed, it was bended according to the cabinet shape. Then I have fixed from the outside a wooden lath with the aid of some staples in order to hold the cardboard in its position. The fiberglass weight could change the cardboard curvature, (see fig.6). The gloss face of the cardboard was previously greased with virgin Vaseline, so the fiberglass doesn't cling to the cardboard.

Fig.6

Then I have kneaded, according to the manufacturer's instructions, an amount of fiberglass (enough to cover the Bakelite lack area with). I have applied it with the aid of two spatulas and I’ve let it dry very well, (read the manufacturer's fiber appliance instructions about the time of cure and about handling). Warning: to work in one ventilated place.

Fig.7

After it has very well dry, I have pulled out the fiber in excess from the inside and from the outside, using a round lime. Afterwards it was slightly caressed with a smooth lime to remove the scratches left by the previous round lime work.

Fig.8

It can happen one gets a lack of fiberglass in some areas and some small grooves. That can happen close to the steel pins. I have made a type of putty by bending epoxy adhesive and Bakelite power of the same cabinet's color. I’ve applied it in the lack areas, as one can see in the illustration 8, (darker stains), and I let it to dry. I’ve caressed it with carefully with a sweet lime, because these materials consistence are different. Afterwards, to prepare it to the painting, I’ve to sand it with sandpaper, (1200 or higher), in order to eliminate any scratch, as one can see in the following illustration.

Fig.9

This picture already in the display the end of the work. It took two coatings of primary, after very dry, it was then painted with acrylic paint, with a prepared color to the color of the original Bakelite

It is here is the cabinet ready, after it is polished with polish cars.

Recently, a standard radio next to a 3A "color" Philips "bakelitlavór" I was speaker.Unfortunately, many small cracks, and a 8-10 cm2 was on the brink of eruption. For a long time to repair myself maturing technology. My first thought, the binary offset gipszmintás solution filled with glue, has been dropped after 1-2 months. Then I heard from someone that the German "FIMO" called plasticine material (PVC and plasticizer mixture), a 130 degree oven for 20-30 minutes kisüthető. Művészellátó available in stores, there are more colors. Ara 360 Ft This volume is sufficient to correct errors in two similar size. Moreover, the material for sure you meet the fair "iparművészeknél" incarnated bizsukban and small figurines.

The errors should be indicated jelegű more holes to the edge of the basin, and a simple wired tartóvázat up beneath the diagram. The revised plasticine to build this well. Smaller parts may be sufficient to open flame "manage" the betömítés after. Care should be taken that the oven should not be cut into larger cracks, there is no tension in the material due to the elhelyezésből because vetemedhet the regular form. A good solution if the "basin" of the horizontally placed rim down.

I am a 77-year terracotta color code chosen, after calcination, which hardly differs from the base. It is possible that the substance szabadlevegőn long time after the "self" is kikeményedik.Discharge of any well-controlled electric oven proposal.

Here is a picture of the finished hangszóróról front and rear. Good baking, cooking for everyone.
