Dear Radio Friends,

A neighbour friend question me about the nationality of a Philips set of his own. It is a B4X99A/01.

I was tried to reply him that it is a Dutch radio made in Eindhoven Netherlands.

But, when I saw the label I noticed that the serial number began by two letters, P and L (PL).

I heard about this letters that they mean that this set was made in Leuven, Belgium,

In Rmorg I can't find references to this factory tough some Philips sets had been made there.

I would like to hear your commentaries about this matter. If you please.

Best regards
Mario Coelho

Buenas Dias Mario,
According to the information posted on Gerards Radio Corner web site pages (see following link for explanation of second letter "X" in model. . . can indicate Netherlands or Belgium production.

The model B4X99A/01 was most likely produced in Leuven.

Respectamente,
Robert

Thank you for you replies

In Rmorg, B4x99A/01 presents only MW and LW.
This one has also SW1 and SW2.
I guess that in Rmorg there are not a Page for Leuven made models? Correct? How to place it?

Best Regards
Mário

Dear Mario
I think that we should move both texts about this to the model.
I find it interesting that there should be differences between two models called the same including the suffix. Well, now I see that Iven Müller has given the model B4X99A - with the suffix in the variant (correct) and I can imagine that he did not give the bands correct. Therefore I guess that the model should be changed - and I see also now in the schematic that the model B4X99A shows already 4 bands ...
Can you make the change?
