? rca: Ch= RC-436; 40X52 Little Nipper
I've started refurbishing a wooden RCA 40x52 and had to strip paint. in doing this I've ran into 4 layers. the bottom layer, before I hit wood, is a cream color and the next layer is red. does anybody now what color this model came in? I'm not sure if the bottom layer is primer and it was sold red or if the bottom layer is the original paint.
Thanks for your help,
Bill

40X52 Color
Hello Bill,
According to the RCA documentation, model 40X52 was Ivory in color. Thus the "cream" color that you observed was the original color. The third page of schematics (on the model page) is the title page for this model (Which I uploaded last year from the 1939 RCA Redbook) and this is where the color is listed.

40x52
John,
Thank you for your help. I thought that might be the case. What threw me is when i took the handle of there was red paint under it . I think what happend there is the radio was painted ivory after the handles were mounted at the factory. Somebody must have removed the handle and painted the radio, or the red paint siphoned under the handle when painted.
Best regards,
Bill
