rca: WV-77-E (K); Voltohmyst
? rca: WV-77-E (K); Voltohmyst
I have purchased an RCA Model WV77-E, Voltohmyst via online auction. Although I have not received the unit yet, the seller states that the ohms function is "off." Searching the manual, I find information on how to calibrate for correct voltage readings, but no calibration instruction is given for the resistance function. I was hoping to be be forearmed with a bit information about what to check on the ohms function of this meter by the time it arrives later this week.
(Of course I will inspect the battery terminals and replace the battery, first.)
Thank you.
Rob

Hi Rob,
according to the schematic there is no OHM calibration potentiometer. The adjustment with the front panel accessable OHM pot is described in the manual pages. To my experience the problem is mostly a forgotten old battery and/or corroded battery contacts. After inserting a new battery the ohm function should work. If not, the circuit is such simple to find easily the fault.

Thank you
Thank you, Sven. I just put a new battery in it and it is working fine.
Also, I got the numbers mixed up. The one I have is a WV-98C Senior Voltohmyst. Similat though, to this model.
cheers,
Rob

Your are welcome
Hi, Ray. You are welcome. Good to have the unit functional now. I agree, checking the WV-98C manual the schematic looks very similar. Cheers, Sven

Thanks again.
Thank you, Arpat. I have a manual for the WV-98E "Senior" model, but one of the pages--the one with the calibration potentiometer locations are given--is difficult to read. I did, however manage to calibrate the instrument. I am building a crystal rectifier RF probe for it, and if anyone is interested, I can do a write-up about how I make them.
cheers
Rob
