Greetings,

I am restoring this radio. It now functions well on FM (UKW) band but very poorly on AM (Mittel and Kurz buttons).  The fault is at the second IF transformer (ZF-Filter 2) which I suspect of being out of alignment.

The AM IF transformer adjustments are unlike any I have encountered.  The adjustments are on the rear of each shared AM/FM IF transformer housing. The AM coils are mounted horizontally in a slotted form. Each coil has a phenolic core but the core is not adjustable. It is not clear to me how to peak the AM IF transformers, unless perhaps it involves moving the coils up or down on the slotted form. I've tried doing that gently without luck. I am hesitant to apply too much force.

I hope that someone can offer insight. Thank you.

Scott

Dear Scott,

Siemens AM IF bandpass filters are somewhat special indeed.

Please look at the thread on alignment of AM IF filters of Siemens 1236W which has nearly identical IF filters.

Regards,

Dietmar

Dear Dietmar,

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, although I admit that I am not looking forward to the rest of the journey. I will likely be back with more questions.

Cheers,

Scott
