RCA Speaker Hookup Issue - RCA Radiola 61-10
? RCA Speaker Hookup Issue - RCA Radiola 61-10
Hello,
I have replaced all the paper and electrolytic capacitors and went to power the radio up and realized the speaker had only 1 of the 2 wires on it. The one that is there goes to the speaker amplifier transformer. Where does the other wire go to? I will need to solder a wire to the other speaker terminal, but don't know where to connect the other end of the wire. HELP!

Greg,
see the schematic below:
The upper wire goes from the output transformer secondary to the speaker coil.
The lower wire goes from the output transformer secondary to ground (chassis), and so does the second speaker coil wire.
Good luck,
Harald

Hello Greg.
According to the first schematic in the drop-down Documents list for this model, you will notice that one terminal of the loudspeaker is connected to what is referred to as Chassis Ground, and one lead of the secondary winding of the output transformer is also connected to Chassis Ground. The result is that only a single wire is required between the other output transformer secondary lead and the loudspeaker to complete the low impedance loudspeaker circuit.
Kind regards,
Stan
