On this radio, there is a audio transformer used as a choke (I'm guessing). The 45v+ was attached to one of the leads of the primary and the other went to the first audio transformer and to the plate on the detector tube.
I was normal to have an audio transformer there? I have seen that transformer used in older models of Stromberg. Did they use left overs to build this model?
Would this be a 1:3 or 1:4 transformer?
Was this a replacement of later days?

Thanks for your help

Hello Daniel,

In my collection, I have your mentioned model. It is in a very good and original condition.  I cannot find your audio transformer used as a choke. Where about is the transformer situated? Please be so kind and present us some pictures.

Looking forward

Best wishes from the Black Forest

It is located directly under the power connections attached to the frame. I know that the transformer is old. The schematics show a choke under the firts stage audio output

The Transformer is original

Thank you for the picture. Yes it is correct, that there was used a Transformer as a choke. The secondary winding with the high resistance was used as the choke winding. The ratio is 4:1

Best regards

Thanks for the help, i had an output transformer that fitted inside that original case. I'm getting some sound out of the radio, now i think it just need to be aligned. By the way do you know how the nuetralizing capacitors in this unit work? I see that they have a wierd looking nut but i loosen it thinking that the middle part will mive up and down but nothing happens. Thanks again for your help.
