bang: Wrong model number?
Dear Administrators!
I have just had one of these transistor radios in for repair for Ringsted Radiomuseum. Your diagrams, pictures and other information match our records, except for the model number. According to the information we have, this is a model 606 K. It is the first ever transistor radio made by B&O in 1959 for the 1960 marked.
We have even contacted a former B&O engineer from the period. Here is the response we received from him (translated into English)
"I have to correct myself.
The Beolit 606 K was launched in 1959 and the name 606 says that it is a 1960 model. That 562 is self-invented.
In 1960, the 1961 Beolit 607 model was launched with an anodized aluminum front and handle. Later, we ourselves developed a new process for surface treatment of aluminum. It was called anodizing because "eloxering" was patent protected.
Hope the clouds of confusion are blown away.¤
I hope this information is helpful.
Best regards
Egil Hansen

bang: Wrong model number?
Hello Mr. Hansen,
according to my documents, two different models are shown on the model page.
See the differences in the scales.
The model 606K and 607 do not exist in the RMorg.

bang: Wrong model number?
Dear Herr Bauer!
The Beolit 562 does not appear in the records of Ringsted Radiomuseum. It has not been marketed in Denmark as far as we can see. Could it be an export model?
The Beolit 606K however was marketed and was a coveted object for many young people.
I will create a new model page for the 606K. The picture uploaded by Karl Josef Hahn is definitely the 606K and I suggest you remove it from the 562 page.
Best regards
Egil Hansen

bang: Wrong model number?
Hello Egil,
The number is not completely "invented" as your friend stated, but most likely probably derived from the schematic number. You can find the schema glued into the case, here it is 562 H 532.
The correct model type for this radio here should be 607AM.
For Beolit 606K the number is 562 H 535. It has 2 SW bands.
There is also a model Beolit 606 with 2N412 and 2x2N410.
I have suggested all missing models and made change suggestion, images will be moved accordingly.
Thanks and best regards
Mark

bang: Wrong model number?
I have moved the collection image of Karl Josef Hahn to model 606 with 3 wavebands.
As far as I understand it, the 606K is the one with 2 SW bands.
Unfortunately, the model type information is only mentioned in the service books, and the widely available schematics, e.g. from the devices, omit this information - as do the sets themselves.
So we would have to rely on brochures and catalogues, which I don't have access to at this time.
If there is still anything wrong, or if you can provide catalog scans etc, please don't hesitate to contact us, it would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards
Mark

bang: Wrong model number?
Hallo Mark.
Something can't be right here. The pictures don't fit.
The model with the circuit diagram Beolit 607AM (562H532) looks like I already showed the model 606K above.
Here are 2 pictures from catawiki.com/en/l/5438419 with the glued-in circuit diagram.

bang: Wrong model number?
Hello Wolfgang,
Thank you. As I said, it can be difficult to do things right, especially given the lack of information.
We have the following models:
- Beolit 606 (AM) based on a schematic from a service book, different transistors
- Beolit 606K (2x SW) with schema 562H535
- Beolit 607AM (1x SW) with schema 562H532, which is largely similar to 606K (our former 562)
- Beolit 607FM with FM, which is not under discussion
We also have two different designs:
- a dial scale with green horizontal stripes left and right, and white painted metal grille
- a dial scale in white with 3 wavebands, golden grille
The Netherlands Radio Histoy Club shows this flyer as model 607
There is also this advertisement for "Beolit". It makes no mention of a model number. It has a better resolution and we can also see 3 wavebands (which some uncertainty).
I reiterate, the models don't seem to have the actual type printed on them. So people selling, cataloging and listing these radios rely on what they can find on the internet. There are many radios out there sold as/listed as 562...
This information is not reliable enough. Unless there are yet more models that look the same and have no type, the question seems to narrow itself down to 606(AM) or 607AM or rather which is wich. One difference between those two is the transistor complement. The other is possibly the external appearance, for which we only have those two advertisements and only the NVHR's attribution to model 607.

Mark

The Bang & Olufson collector's site beoworld.org has listing as well. I'm posting them here to round out the picture.
Beolit AM/FM (no type number)
Beolit 606K (you can see the 4 wavebands, compare with our 606)
Beolit 607 (not a lot of details)
Skipping the 607FM, this is what they have.
I am not sure they have it 100% right either!

Hallo Mark,
a lot has not yet been clarified here.
For example, the Beolit 607AM model shows an image ID = 1187824 that shows the Beolit 606K model.
This can be seen from the 3 sockets, which no other model has otherwise. .

Hello Wolfgang,
Well spotted. There is no other image of that device from our former member Fritz Czapek.
For now I have moved this chassis picture, but the whole issue is not yet solved, some doubts remain if we have the models right. At least our listing so far is consistent.
There is still information missing.
Mark
Edit: it shows time and again that one has to be very careful with claims like this, turns out that 606(AM) also has those 3 jacks. A chassis comparison with new images for 606K seems legit enough however.

Hello Mark,
something cannot be right there.
The picture you uploaded for Beolit 606 shows three sockets.
Antenna, pickup, headphones.
The circuit diagram you uploaded only has two sockets.
Could it be that the pictures are from a model that has been replaced with a different case?
Even the original circuit diagram in my possession only shows 2 sockets.
The chassis designation with Transistors 2N412, 2N410, 2N410, OC604, OC604, OC74 is 562H515.
Unfortunately, I am not allowed to make model changes myself.

bang: 562H532
Hello Wolfgang,
Yes, no need to repeat that "something cannot be right", we know that there are still open questions. I have written about it extensively previously.
Please upload your complete schematic showing the number 562H515 to the model page with 2N412. It's important that we show that, and that's why you find the bad copy of the schematic that I uploaded.
To come back to the original question "is 562 a type" we until now assumed that the original model now named Beolit 607 might have gotten its type not from an exisiting schematic. But perhaps that is not so.
What we will have to do now is have a look at models where we know the chassis type "for certain".
I'll start with 562H532:
As you can see it has 3 sockets (per schema) and the same style dial scale as 606 and 606K. Which means that there is a discrepancy between the pictures of Eckart Wegner and the information we show.
Which also means that there might be a third series of models, but we'll have to wait with such conclusions.
Please show your model as well, I will ask M. Wegner for confirmation.
By the way: the 562Hxxx can be found on many B&O models, e.g. Beocord 2000 is 562H821.
Regards
Mark

Hallo Mark,
now that everything is probably clear, the models should be corrected.
Unfortunately, I am not allowed to do so, so I have to delegate it.
Let's start with the Beolit 606 model.
None of the pictures belong to this model. See also the circuit diagram ID = 2668915 without turntable connection.
See also the picture and the circuit diagram from Post 13.
The model is properly called Beolit 606 562H515 and has only 2 sockets (antenna and headphones).
The correct pictures can be found on the Beolit 607AM model.
If that's corrected, we'll move on to the other models. Changing everything at once would complicate it.
Regards WB.

Hello Friends.
The dust has not quite settled yet.
Our friends at the Danish B&O Club has confirmed beyond reasonable doubt that the specimen we have at the Ringsted Radiomuseum is the Beolit 606K. It is the model with the three socets for antenna, headphone and gramophone.
The information on the model page is not completely correct.
1. The radio has only one SW band
2. The model is NOT an export model. It was marketed in DK in 1960, but it may have been exported as well.
3. The measures given include the handle and the plastic feet. The raw measures are 270x200x90 mm.
The weight of the model is a whooping 3500 grams with the batteries installed.
I have uploaded a few more pictures to the 606K model page
Greetings from DK
Egil Hansen

Hello Mark.
The pictures you have from the Radiomuseum in Bocket is not of the 606K. It is the 606 (without the K).
The transistor complement is different.

bang: 562H515
Hello Mr. Hansen,
the images you uploaded for the 562H535 belong to the 562H532.
562H535 has 2x SW, MW and LW and a tone switch combined with the volume potentiometer.
Your photos show 1x LW, MW, KW.
I have now documented all models with the differences and hope that everything is finally clear and the models will be corrected.
First the 562H515. See also the pictures in post 13.
Model in 4 colors and 2 sockets (headphones and antenna) and LW, MW, KW.
Transistors 2N412, 2N410, 2N410, OC604, OC74, OC74.
Second Model 562H532.
Model with 3 sockets (headphones, antenna and phono) and LW, MW, KW.
Transistors OC170, OC45, OC45, OC75, OC75, OC74, OC74.
Third Model 562H535.
Model with 3 sockets (headphones, antenna and phono) and LW, MW, 2x KW.
Transistors OC170, OC45, OC45, OC75, OC75, OC74, OC74.
The first picture in Post 8 does not show the Beolit AM / FM but the 562H532.
I hope this compilation helps.
Regards WB.

bang: 562H515
Dear Administrators.
Since everything should be clear now through research by Mr. Hippenstiel and myself, the models now have to be corrected.
The model Beolit 607AM (562H532) ID = 180791 with the transistors:
OC170, OC45, OC45. OC75, OC75, OC74. OC74 shows the model 562H515.
See also Post 13.
The pictures show the model that does not have a phono connection. However, the circuit diagram shows the model with the 3 sockets (antenna, phono, headphones).
The pictures therefore belong to the Beolit 606 model ID = 330913 with the transistors: 2N412, 2N410, 2N410, OC604, OC604, OC74, OC74.
The designation 562H515 should be added to this model.
As you can easily see from the circuit diagram, this model has no phono connection and therefore only 2 sockets.
This is why the pictures for the Beolit 607AM (562H532) ID = 180791 model belong to the Beolit 606 ID = 330913.
Phono switching by pressing the buttons for MW-LW at the same time.
With the Beolit 606K (562H535) ID = 330914 model everything is actually OK except for 4 pictures.
Phono switching via the phono jack socket.
The pictures ID = 2673612, 2673613 and 2673614 however show the model Beolit 607AM (562H532) ID = 180791. The picture ID = 1187824 also shows the model Beolit 607AM (562H532) ID = 180791 with the 5 trimmers. See comparison below.
I know a lot of work, but then all ambiguities and errors are eliminated.
