• Notes

• The Radiosonde is a meteorological instrument with a 402MHz transmitter which is hung from a balloon released into the atmosphere. As the balloon goes up the Radiosonde records air pressure, temperature and relative humidity and sends this information back to a Meteorological Office receiver.

  The instruments, transmiter and battery are mounted in a weatherproof cardboard box.

  Astor made similar instruments from 1941 and AWA from 1947.

  This UHF model was made in 1966.
