- Notes
-
The B&W 410 Audio Distortion meter was primarily designed for measuring total harmonic distortion in audio amplifiers, especially those used in the modulation of transmitters. Both Collins and RCA included it in their respective broadcast equipment catalogs as a device that was ideal for satisfying FCC proof of performance. The device includes a sensitive AC RMS voltmeter.
The manual lists the following capabilities:
• Measuring RMS voltage from 0.1 millivolt to 300 VAC.
• Measuring decibels from -75 dB to +52 dB.
• Measuring noise levels of audio amplifiers and modulation of transmitters.
• Acting as an amplifier for low level AC signals. (Amplifying 1 millivolt AC signals approximately 200 times)
• Single frequency filtering from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
• Use as a sensitive null indicator.
• Checking frequency response of audio equipment.
• Measuring ripple present in power supplies.
• AC balancing of audio and stereo amplifiers.
