  • Notes
  • The radio model Peony 牡丹 941-C (Mudan) offers the following key features 主要性能: Frequency range 频率范围: broadcast and two SW bands. The IF 中频频率 is most probably 465 kc. Loudspeaker impedance is 8 ohm. Please compare the models Peony 牡丹 941-A, 941-B and 941-C with the Peony 牡丹 941. The case is the same but the circuit slightly different.

Peony 941-C is a nine Ge-transistor 3-band (MW, SW1 (4-10.8 MHz), SW2 (11-22 MHz)) radio receiver made by Beijing Radio Product Plant (literally called so, as unable to find its official English name, too long time).

As one of the premium consumer radio receivers made in China in the 1970s, Peony 941C was well received in the market despite of its hefty price, as it was rated the best performing Grade-II portable radio receiver of China in 1974. Still a large number of them are available in the second hand market, though in various conditions. It has two sibling variants 941A and 941B, and 941A can be used as a mini-amplifier for conference and 941B can drive larger external speaker for better sound fidelity.
