  • This was claimed to be Australia's first commercial F.M. tuner. F.M. transmissions were started in Australia in 1947 in Sydney and, later, to other capital cities. However, a desire to increase the number of TV stations resulted in the F.M. band being lost to TV in the early 1960s. F.M. broadcasting did not resume until the early 1970s.
