  • Notes
  • Announced by Canon in August 1999, and marketed from October of that year, the PowerShot S10 Compact Digital Camera brought many of the features of expensive professional cameras to the general public at the affordable price of CHF 1200. The camera was supplied with one 8 MB CompactFlash card. (At the time, a 48 MB card cost CHF 225).

The camera incorporates a 2.11 Megapixel 1/2″ CCD and a fully retractable 2X zoom lens with three aspherical elements, giving high quality and low distortion to the edges of the format. A new single-chip digital processor IC and buffer memory made possible the short shutter interval of two seconds. The camera incorporates five shooting modes and advanced functions including Spot Metering, AE Lock, and ISO Sensitivity Setting for different situations.
