  • Cylinder duplicating machine. Around 1900. Before Gold Molded cylinders appeared on the market in 1902, it was common practice to mechanically duplicate cylinders on machines like this one. A recorded cylinder was placed on the rear spindle, and a blank one on the front, upon which a recording stylus, connected to a playing stylus, traced the original recording.

    Macchina duplicatrice a cilindro. 1900 circa. Prima che i cilindri Gold Moulded apparissero sul mercato nel 1902, era pratica comune duplicare meccanicamente i cilindri su macchine come questa. Un cilindro registrato veniva posto sul mandrino posteriore, ed uno in bianco su quello anteriore, sul quale uno stilo che incideva,collegato ad uno stilo che suonava, tracciava la registrazione originale.
