    Designed by MacDonald, this was the first phonograph intended for widespread use. Its low price and excellent performance made its purchase both possible and desiderable, for middle-class families al over the world.

    Reiss lists this as manufactured from 1897-1906 and cost an "eagle", a $10 USD gold piece.  The B model came without a case; the later BX version came with a bentwood cabinet for an additional $2 USD.
