The Cossor Model 339 Double Beam Oscillograph is an oscilloscope with a 4.5" double beam 09 type cathode ray tube that could without any modification be replaced with a 26 type single beam CRT.
The instrument was delivered with 09J (blue) CRT as standard, but it could be fitted with the a 09D (green) or 09G (blue-green with 10 sec. green afterglow) type CRTs.
The dual beam and single beam tubes were directly interchangable; the two vertical amplifiers working in push-pull for the single beam. One channel showed an inverted image when using the dual beam tube.
For photographic recording, Model 427 Camera could be used.
The Model 339 is based on the pre-war Model 3339 which used different valves.
There were intermediate versions between the 3339 and 339 models. For example, some of the later 3339 were also fitted with the front panel switch and indicator lamp.

There is a copy of a user manual for the 339 scope circulating on the internet which has a number of issues:
- the model type 339 on the front cover was added with a computer (more modern font, crisp and clear)
- the date of 1942 mentioned on the front page does not correspond with what we currently know from advertisements by Cossor
- the text detailing the default CRT as being type 09J is in contradiction with the original manual that has been used to describe the present model page, which specifies a type 09D
A possible conclusion is that said document has been tampered with and is perhaps based on a draft version for this or a very similar oscilloscope.
