- Notes
- The literature is at variance about the model number 54, 54Q or 54G, as well as in the name: New Buddy, or Buddy Boy or New Buddy Boy. The only difference is in the cabinet, where also a round top version exists. But which cabinet to which number and name belongs is not clear. The sources are divergent. Almost any combination can be found.
Moulded Repwood , Tombstone. Although the schematic does not indicate, Crosley calls it a Neutrodyne in the original ad from 1930 (A Blast from the Past).
In other words: Crosley Buddy Boy has been made in different forms and also for different chassis. Here it is chassis 54 (2 knobs) - please do not confuse with similar chassis 56 (2 knobs) and chassis 58 (3 knobs). The "New Buddy Boy" for chassis 56 has the scale over the right knob (two knobs) - as has chassis 54. The Crosley 56 is the DC version of this AC model 54(G) - which you can find in two versions: "round top" and "flat top".
