The Crosley 1055-EK is an AC operated 10 tube LW, BC, Police and SW receiver. Chassis were supplied with either a standard 60 cycle, 110V power transformer or with a 25-60 cycle, 95-267V universal power transformer. Chassis that were equipped with the universal transformer also had 3 terminals on the back to allow connection of an external phonograph.
Band Frequency Ranges are as follows:
Weather Band (Orange Band).........................150 - 400kHz
American Broadcast Band (Black Band)..........540 - 1500kHz
Police and Amateur Band (Green Band)..........1500 - 4000kHz
Night High Frequency Band (Red Band)..........4000 - 10000kHz
Day High Frequency Band (Violet Band).........10000 - 21000kHzThe 1055 chassis and schematic are used for the following models:
Model Cabinet 1055-EK Table model 1055-RA Console model Note: The "-EK" and "-RA" suffixes in the model names are taken from the Stein book references and to date, have not been verified from any Crosley literature, however actual models are marked "1055EK" thus confirming the -EK suffix. The Stein Table Top Radios Volume 4 reference calls this model both a "1055-EK" and a "1055-EC", while the Stein Cathedral and Tombstone Radios reference calls this model a "1055-EK".
The Crosley service data indicates that the speakers are different in the table and console models, but does not list the difference (Most likely the speaker size).
