  • Notes
  • The DuMont RA-106 family of 20-inch round CRT TV receivers (or "Telesets" as DuMont called them) have a continuous tuning Mallory-Ware Inductuner (called an "Inputuner" by DuMont) using a triple roller inductor which covers the VHF low, FM, and VHF high bands in one band from 44-216 MHz. A 6AL7GT tuning eye is also provided. The chassis has main unit and a subchassis for HV flyback power supply with voltage doubler. The RA-106 chassis is electrically similar to the RA-105, with the exception of the HV subchassis, which has one additional damper tube (6AS7G) and produces a higher voltage for use with the larger 20-inch CRT of the RA-106.

RA-105 service literature is usable for the RA-106, as long as a separate schematic and parts list is used for the HV subchassis.

There are two models in the RA-106 family: the RA-106 Club 20, which is a large TV/FM table/shelf set with an optional floor stand, and the RA-106 Manchu, which is a TV/FM/AM/phono console with an oriental-style cabinet. While the Club 20 has a single speaker on the front panel, the Manchu has a two-way speaker, with a 3-inch tweeter on the front panel and a 12-inch woofer in the base unit. The Manchu rotates on its stand and has a natural mahogany front doors and green painted sides. The phonograph in the Manchu is a 2-speed record changer in a drawer below the screen. The AM tuner on the Manchu has its own additional subchassis with a small slide rule dial above the main TV/FM round dial in the lower right of the main unit.  The Manchu also has a separate audio amplifier chassis with dual 6V6GT push-pull audio output stage.
